Simplification and pursuit of meaning are both linked to wellbeing. Old concepts often forgotten in a busy world of information and options. Aristotle talked about this even when the world was not so busy.
We are all capable of high performance. It is not just Olympic athletes. High performance is how we deliver on our meaning.
Here is what Baumeister writes in a paper titled 'Some key differences between a happy life and a meaningful life'. (https://bit.ly/3JCXbij).
-Meaningfulness went with being a giver rather than a taker.
-Worry, stress, and anxiety are linked to higher meaningfulness.
-Expressing the self contributes to meaning.
In other words, performance wellbeing is an environment that:
a) allows us to contribute
b) gives us space and skills to cope with unavoidable stress that comes with meaning
c) allows us to freely express ourselves
Does this sound like your environment?
